5 Must See Sights in Rome

Rome is one of those cities that tops people's bucket lists because of its rich history and culture. However, if you're a 9-to-5er like me than you don't have all the time in the world to fully immerse yourself in all the big city of Rome has to offer. I was lucky to have four days! So here are my top 5 must see sights in Rome:

1. Colosseum
The Colosseum is probably one of Rome's most iconic landmarks. Used as an amphitheater in ancient Roman times, its floor has since caved in and is now a major tourist attraction. It's open seven days a week and the Colosseum ticket also gets you entrance into the Roman Forum nearby. I'd suggest arriving early to avoid the crowds and you can purchase your ticket from the side entrance to the Roman Forum.

2. Trevi Fountain
They say if you toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain and say somebody's name then that person will fall in love with you. I'll admit I've tried it but I won't admit whether it worked or not, you'll have to find that out for yourself!

3. Vatican City
Though technically not a part of Rome, I put Vatican City on the list because honestly who can go to Rome without seeing the Sistine Chapel and St. Paul's Cathedral. The Vatican is open from Monday to Saturday and be sure to send a postcard to a loved one from a Vatican mailbox!

4. Roman Forums
If you've ever dreamt of walking in the footsteps of Julius Caesar and the ancient Romans then the Roman Forum is not to be missed. The great ancient Rome may be reduced to mere rubble but if you can stand there and envision what it must have looked like you'll be in awe.

5. Pantheon
Famous for its domed ceiling and oculus in the center to allow natural light to flow through the Pantheon. Just be wary not to visit on a Sunday during mass.
